Chamo Venezuelan Cuisine Inside the Restaurant

CHAMO
Why Chamo? I am glad you asked.

Chamo is the informal way Venezuelans call each other. It doesn’t have any equal in other languages, but it could mean boy – chama for a girl, friend, buddy, stranger, you, or even an informal call out to anybody.

Mis chamos, may be translated “my kids”; Los Chamos was a Venezuelan music male group of the eighties; Chamo is a very common greeting. People use it when they encounter those they know. ¡Epa, Chamo! means “How is it going!”; while una chamamentazón is just a bunch of people together.

Chamo is also the name of a new restaurant in Pasadena, California. Chamo Venezuelan Cuisine brings the Venezuelan flavors to life in that very spirit of warmth, family, and informality that characterizes the Venezuelan treatment.
